Fenerbahce has announced the signing of guard Markel Starks from Igokea. The 30-year-old guard is set to make his EuroLeague debut with the Turkish team as he signed a contract until the end of the season.

He joined Igokea for the 2021-22 season and he was one of the top contributors, averaging 10.2 points and 5.6 assists in the ABA League and 12.7 points and 6.8 assists in the Basketball Champions League.

With Nando De Colo out with injury, Fener had to add another guard in its backcourt for the rest of the season. Before Igokea, Starks spent several seasons in VTB League with Avtador Saratov and Zielona Gora.

Fenerbahce has recovered from a bad start to the 2021-22 regular season, and sits one game behind at 10th place alongside Bayern Munich. They won six of their last seven in the top-tier European basketball competition.
