Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is making great progress in his recovery.

And following Los Angeles’ latest empathic win over the Utah Jazz, head coach Frank Vogel announced the uplifting update regarding Davis. Though there’s no definite date yet on the anticipated return, the big man’s injury reevaluation and upcoming exposure in enhanced on-court contact are the important things that must be noted for now.

“Everything looked clean on the MRI and the checkup with doctors, so he’s been cleared for an on-court ramp-up with contact,” Vogel said after the Monday win, per Harrison Feigen of SB Nation. “That doesn’t mean we’ll have a timeline. There’s still a reconditioning and ramp-up of work involved.”

Last week, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin detailed that there was an optimism within the Lakers huddle that Davis would finally return sometime on the upcoming six-game road trip of the club. The travel is set to take place following their next homecourt bout against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.

Davis remains on the sideline after having a left knee contact upon the fall of  Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels on Dec. 17. He was ruled out for 4-6 weeks after an MRI revealed that he sustained an MCL sprain.

Playing at the center position, Davis is averaging 23.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.0 blocks, in 52 percent efficiency from the field. His upcoming return at the end of the month will certainly enhance the Lakers’ contention hopes amid the zigzag progression this season.
