Draymond Green is out for an extended period of time.

Per Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Golden State Warriors forward is set to be sidelined for two more weeks, due to the connection of his left calf injury to a disc in his lower back. He will be further re-evaluated upon finishing the given timeframe.

Since being out last Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors went on to have a 3-2 record from Green’s absence. As the undisputed heart and soul of the franchise is now being shelved, head coach Steve Kerr has to encourage a “Next man up” mentality within the lineup to sustain their high ranking in the competitive Western Conference, possibly more leaning on the outputs of Juan Tuscano-Anderson, Otto Porter Jr., and the emerging young sensation Jonathan Kuminga who had a breakout Friday game against the Chicago Bulls.

Green, one of the favorites to claim the Defensive Player of the Year this season, is averaging 7.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists with 53.7 percent shooting from the field.
