Darren Collison and Stanley Johnson have inked a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers will utilize their hardship rights to sign both Collison and Johnson to a 10-day contract. The two will join Isaiah Thomas as the newcomers who were given a playing opportunity by the COVID-inflicted squad.
The 34-year-old Collison last played for the Indiana Pacers in the 2018-2019 season wherein he retired from professional basketball, citing religious reasons. Meanwhile, Johnson, who signed a 10-day contract earlier with the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 9, didn’t manage to suit up after being shelved in COVID protocols.
The Lakers (16-17) are slated for a marquee Saturday Christmas showdown against the East’s top-seeded team in Brooklyn Nets (21-9).
