The first part of EuroLeague Round 6 had some strong highlights as most of the games were competitive until the last second.

Nikola Mirotic saved FC Barcelona at the buzzer, keeping the Catalans perfect in the competition, while FC Bayern Munich had its revenge against Olimpia Milano, with Corey Walden taking over in the last quarter of the game.

Nikola Mirotic keeps FC Barcelona perfect at the buzzer

Nikola Mirotic did not have his best game as FC Barcelona struggled to get past Fenerbahce. The superstar forward shot 0-6 from beyond the arc, registering just eight points and seven rebounds.

In his worst game in the EuroLeague this season, Mirotic found a way to become a part of FC Barcelona’s sixth victory with a tough make from the low post at the buzzer.

As a result, the Spanish giants became the only team with perfect record, after Round 6 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Mirotic said that he was kind of lucky at the end; however, he praised coach Sarunas Jasikevicius for the winning play.

“I was trying to find the rhythm today. Honestly, I didn’t feel great, especially offensively. I couldn’t make the shots I usually make, but I was trying to do some different things.

We knew it was going to be a really difficult game, so at the end, Coach Saras made a great timeout play,” Mirotic said after Barca’s huge road win.

“They looked for me, and with a little luck, at the end, I was able to score. So, I am very happy that we won the game, even though we didn’t play our best game, the best performance. But the win is the win. We have to keep grinding.”

Mike James completes EuroLeague milestone in Alpha Diallo’s career-night

Monaco achieved an important victory over Crvena Zvezda in front of its home crowd. Alpha Diallo had a night to remember as he registered career-highs in points, PIR, rebounds and steals.

The American forward completed an all-around performance with 19 points, seven rebounds, three steals and a 28 index rating in 27 minutes of play. That was the first game in double-digits for Diallo in his EuroLeague career.

“It was hard-fought game and we gutted it out. It was a 40-minute game, a 40-minute effort and we came out with the win so we’re happy with that,” Diallo said after his career-high performance Tuesday.

Diallo’s big night in Monaco has been followed by Mike James, who got closer to the EuroLeague top-10 All-time scoring list. The star guard suffered a rare quiet night, but still climbed 12th in the competition.

He surpassed former Barcelona big man Ante Tomic (2780), advancing from 2779 points to 2787, after his 8-point performance on Tuesday night.

Corey Walden leads FC Bayern Munich to revenge vs. Milan

FC Bayern Munich had the chance to take its revenge after their close-fought defeat in the 2021 postseason series vs. Armani Milano. The German club had also the chance to put together a good sequence of results after starting the season 0-4.

Corey Walden, who joined the Bavarians this past summer, stepped up when his team needed it most. He hit free throws and buried back-to-back three-point shots in a 10-0 run that put Bayern ahead for good.

He finished the contest with 16 points, seven makes from the free-throw line and three makes from beyond the arc. He also added three assists, two rebounds and two steals to perfectly compliment Vladimir Lucic, Darrun Hilliard and Othello Hunter.

“It was a really good atmosphere here for us to turn it around in the last quarter. It really made the last push, it was really something good. That’s hard basketball right there.

We showed some grit, some toughness, and were able to get it done. Our defense and making plays towards the end [were the key factors], players just stepping up and making big shot at the end, just showing toughness,” Walden said on Bayern’s big win.

Tyler Dorsey follows career-best game with clutch performance in Piraeus

Tyler Dorsey showed that his 32-point performance last week was not just based on his hot shooting, as he helped Olympiacos prevail over ALBA Berlin in Piraeus.

The sharpshooting guard made four clutch free throws in crunch time as the “Reds” slipped past the German champions. He finished the game with a team-high 13 points and three cold-blooded plays in the last 20 seconds of the game.

Dorsey was coming off a career night in Moscow, where he put up 32 points. He is among the best three-point shooters in the competition, making them on a 50 percent clip in five attempts per game.

“We knew they were scoring a lot lately. Their offense has been flowing and we let it happen tonight. It squeezed down in a close one, but at least we got the win and that’s all that matters.

We got another good team, Fenerbahce, coming in. They are going to be hungry, and we have to defend better for the next game,” Dorsey said after the contest.
