Bayern Munich have a difficult mission ahead of the EuroLeague Round 3 matchup against UNICS Kazan. The Bavarians are in search of the first win in the competition after losing to Maccabi Tel Aviv and FC Barcelona.

Both UNICS and Bayern will face each other for the first time in the history of the competition. The two teams played in the EuroCup Quarterfinals in the 2017-18 season. The Germans took the best-of-three series.

Bayern head coach Andrea Trinchieri, who coached the Russian club during the 2013-14 season, believes his team needs to show consistency to win away from home.

“It’s the first double week and the first thing we have to do is tackle one game at a time,” said Trinchieri. “In Kazan we meet a team that is loaded with a lot of talent. We’re going to have a tough evening on defense and offense. We have to limit their talent and this time show a very consistent performance.”

Andreas Obst could make his EuroLeague debut, after missing the first two games of the competition. Nihad Nedovic could also be available, after making his first appearance for the season against Braunschweig Sunday.

Darrun Hilliard, who is one of the top performers for Bayern at the start of the season, faced the VTB side several times as a member of CSKA Moscow the last two seasons.

“Unics has an incredible amount of quality on paper,” said Hilliard. “And I also know Coach Perasovic from our time together in Baskonia, a good coach. We definitely have to get out of the cabin with maximum energy against them.”
