Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Troy Daniels, who spent seven seasons in the NBA, will continue his career in Europe after signing a contract with Olimpia Milano.

The 28-time Italian champions reached the EuroLeague Final Four this past season. They lost to FC Barcelona in the semi-final and eventually claimed the third place after taking down CSKA Moscow.

According to Olimpia Milano’s representatives, Daniels was wanted due to his strong motivation. “We wanted Troy because he’s strongly motivated, can fit well in our family and has the skills we were looking for in a shooting guard,” says general manager Christos Stavropoulos, via the team’s official website.

Daniels himself is excited to start a new chapter in his career. The guard averaged 6.6 points, 1.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists in 14.9 minutes over 339 games in the NBA. His best season was in 2017-2018 with the Phoenix Suns when he averaged 8.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.6 in 20.5 minutes per game.

“First of all, I’d like to thank Olimpia Milano for this opportunity. I cannot wait to come to Milano, embrace the culture, embrace the fans and really try to win as many championships as we can,” Daniels said via the team’s official website. “I feel very fortunate about having this opportunity and I can’t wait to give to the team everything I have.”
