Orlando Magic came to an agreement with Dallas Mavericks’ assistant coach Jamahl Mosley to become the new head coach, according to Shams Charania of the Athletic.

The news were followed by the official announcement on Sunday as the Magic signed the veteran coach to cover their head coach vacancy.

Mosley will replace Steve Clifford, who parted ways with Orlando on June 5. The newly-hired coach spent the last seven seasons in Dallas alongside Rick Carlisle.

Prior to his time with the Mavericks, Mosley was an assistant in Denver (2005-2010) and in Cleveland (2010-2014). Mosley, 42, will be leading a rebuilding team, which went 21-51 the past season, in Orlando.

The Magic have various young talented players in their roster including Cole Anthony, Chuma Okeke, Mo Bamba and Wendell Carter Jr.

Moreover, they are expected to have Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Isaac back next season after both suffered season-ending injuries last season.
