Pau Gasol will participate in the fifth Olympic tournament of his career with Spain. After almost two years of struggling with injuries, Gasol is ready to close his legendary career in the best way possible.

Earlier this year, the future Hall of Famer made his comeback with a return to Barcelona, finding himself playing in the EuroLeague Championship Game and the ACB Finals.

“At this point of my story, to be here, after what I’ve been through, the injury and the recovery I’ve had, it’s a great reward, a great gift and I’m trying to enjoy every day, every moment, with my teammates on the floor,” Gasol said after a practice with his national team, per Spanish news agency EFE. “Apart from doing it well.”

Spain will face Iran in the first preparation game for the Olympics, before the team heads to Tokio at end of the month with the goal of winning a medal for the third straight Olympic tournament.

“The medals are hard to win, you have to value them all and winning a bronze in Rio was important, and now we have the great luck and the privilege of enjoying others,” Gasol said on the Spanish national team’s success.
