Dennis Schroder was ejected from the game against the Brooklyn Nets after picking two technical fouls for trash talking with Kyrie Irving, yet he still managed to be the second top scorer for the Los Angeles Lakers with 19 points. The German point guard also had 4 assists and 1 rebound.

After the game, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was happy with Schroder, despite the ejection. “I love Dennis Schroder,” he said. “I think that’s the first thing you have to state. His competitive spirit, his fight, his swag, I think that wins for you.

“That’s the preview of the matchup. That’s going to be a dynamic matchup [between Schroder and Irving] if we ever see it again this season. Two great players. They can do it on both sides of the ball.

“Kyrie, obviously, is as good as it gets. You need somebody like Dennis that can hold his own defensively. No one can stop Kyrie but you need somebody who can hold his own and somebody that can go back at him on the other end. I thought Dennis before the ejection did both of those things.”

The win did not affect their place in the standing for the Lakers. Meanwhile, the Nets dropped to the second place in the Eastern Conference as they share the same record with the Philadelphia 76ers that climbed to the top.
