When Kawhi Leonard joined the Los Angeles Clippers back in the summer of 2019, the team was instantly considered an NBA contender.
Many analysts predicted that the Clippers would face the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals and one of the two Los Angeles teams was projected to become a champion.
While the Lakers won their 17th championship in Orlando in 2020, the Clippers had a disappointing playoff run as they were knocked out in the second round by the Denver Nuggets. This season, Leonard and co. are expected to bounce back and improve on their last year’s performance.
The success of the team could determine the future of its superstar. According to an anonymous NBA agent, Kawhi would have serious interest in joining the Miami Heat should he decide to leave the Clippers.
“Kawhi (Leonard) could very well listen to pitches from other teams. That is something that he is considering. If that does end up being the case, he would be intrigued at the possibility of joining the Miami Heat. Joining forces with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo is something that he would absolutely have interest in.”
Leonard is currently on a three-year contract with his current team. However, the next year is a player option. So it will be up for the 2019 NBA champion to decide whether to stay in Los Angeles or to move elsewhere.
This season, the 29-year-old small forward is averaging 25.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game for the Clippers. His team is currently in the third place in the Western Conference with 33 wins and 18 losses.
