The NBA trade deadline, which is on March 25, is approaching. The Los Angeles Lakers are among teams looking to improve their roster for the second half of the regular season as well as for the playoffs. One of the areas which the reigning champions reportedly want to strengthen is rim protection.
Andre Drummond and DeMarcus Cousins are being mentioned as possible additions to the center position. The team’s superstar LeBron James says he is not thinking about the roster changes.
While saying the team should assess the opportunities that come up to make the team better, the four-time NBA champion is happy with what the Lakers already have.
“I’m not in the mind frame as far as what needs to happen as far as our roster,” James said. “For us, what needs to happen is we want to play better basketball with the group that we got. I believe in every guy in our locker room and every guy that hits the floor on every given night. Obviously throughout the course of the season, if there is an opportunity for your team to get better throughout trades or the market of guys getting bought out and things of that nature, you assess that then. But I don’t put my mindset to it. I don’t really think about it in my career. I love what we have.”
Los Angeles enters the second half of the season as the third best team in the Western Conference behind the Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns.
