After securing the first place in Group E and a place in the Last 32 of Eurocup Lietuvos Rytas made a roster change by adding point guard Zygimantas Janavicius.

The 25-year-old Lithuanian joined from a fellow LKL side Lietkabelis. He appeared in 10 LKL games for Lietkabelis this season averaging 8.3 points and 6.4 assists per game.

Once considered as a hot prospect, Janavicius has a total of 17 Euroleague appearances for Zalgiris under his belt, despite playing a minor role.

Janavicius was invited to the training camp of Lithuanian national team last summer but was ruled out by an injury which has also cost a him a contract in Germany with Braunschweig. He was considered a serious candidate for the second point guard role.

Rytas head coach Virginijus Seskus has previously coach Janavicius in Prienai and was looking to bring his former player to his new team.

The arrival of Janavicius, who has put pen on a ‘1+1’ deal, means that Rytas’s prospect Paulius Dambrauskas will be loaned out once again.
