Easy wins for the top teams in the league, and the surprising defeat of Valencia Basket. Tavares was named the MVP of this round.

Unicaja 91 – 71 Movistar Estudiantes

It seems that the work by coach Katsikaris and the recent addition of Malcolm Thomas is starting to show some benefits for Unicaja, which had a great evening against a visiting team which did not have enough gas in the second half. Francis Alonso returned to be a key scorer for his team with 20 points, well supported by Waczynski, who added 15. For Estudiantes, JJ Barea and his 14 points were just not enough.

BAXI Manresa 85 – 84 UCAM Murcia

Tough win for Manresa at home against UCAM Murcia, which could not use Frankamp, who got injured during the Eurobasket qualifiers, but had Isaiah Taylor to replace him instead. James Webb was stellar with 20 points and 10 rebounds for Murcia, but it was Matt Janning who was the key in this game, scoring clutch baskets for Manresa when they needed it the most.

Real Madrid 96 – 81 San Pablo Burgos

Burgos tried its best, but Real Madrid is too much, even when they tired after a recent Euroleague game, and they are suffering from numerous injuries, such as it recently happened to Llull. The main reason today was Tavares. There were moments when it seemed that he was playing against kids in the playground. He is so big, and had such a physical advantage above everyone else, that sometimes it just seems unfair. 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 (¡¡¡) blocks for him. Jasiel Rivero had a good game with 13 points and 8 rebounds, but the center from Cape Verde was simply too much.

GBC 74 – 97 Bilbao Basket

Key win for Bilbao against another team that will fight to avoid relegation. In spite of the good results by GBC in recent games, a great second half for the visiting team was more than enough to secure the win. Up to 5 players scored in double digits for Bilbao, with Hakanson and Balvin having a great connection.

MoraBanc Andorra 84 – 72 Valencia Basket

Surprising win for Andorra against a Euroleague team, something rare to see in Spain these days, especially when Valencia was enjoying a streak of 12 win. The game was decided in the second and third quarter, with veteran point guard Clevin Hannah having a brilliant game: 26 points with 7 three pointers for him. Unstoppable. Prepelic and Van Rossom scored 17 and 16 points apiece in the losing effort.

Monbus Obradoiro 71 – 97 Iberostar Tenerife

Tenerife is just a notch away from Euroleague level. They prove it round after round. It is a beautiful team to see, with veteran players like Huertas and Shermadini still performing at an unbelievable level. Today they scored 22 and 19 points each, having a great duel against Mike Daum and Robertson, who scored 21 and 17 apiece for Obradoiro. However, a number of players like Yusta, Fitipaldo and Butterfield joined the party for the visiting team, and that was the end for Obradoiro, which just could not survive the second half.

Coosur Real Betis 82 – 85 Casademont Zaragoza

Tough win for Zaragoza in Seville, against a local team which gave its best during the whole game. The first half was controlled by the visiting team, with a good job by Ennis and Wiley, just arrived from Gran Canaria. However, a great third quarter for the local team made things tough for Zaragoza when it seemed impossible to reduce the 12-point gap. Betis managed to tie the score 73-73, but a couple of good plays by Brussino made things impossible. Still, Campbell had the last ball to tie the game, but the rim did not want it in. Great game for the Argentinian forward with 20 points and 11 rebounds, well supported by 20 points from Harris. Ndoye and Feldeine scored 21 and 18 each in the losing effort.

Joventut Badalona 62 – 82 Barcelona

Easy game for Barcelona, thanks to a brilliant performance by Nikola Mirotic and Leadro Bolmaro, who had one of the best dunks of the season so far. The whole game was controlled by the visiting team from the very beginning, but in the third quarter they managed to get a 27-point margin, maybe too much against Joventut, one of the best teams in the league so far, which just could not play the way they liked.

TD Systems Baskonia 90 – 74 Urbas Fuenlabrada

Baskonia is reaching the most important part of the season playing its best basketball, just the way they did last season, when they were crowned Spanish champions. Up to 7 players scored in double digits, but it was Polonara who had the best performance, with 15 points and 10 rebounds. It is surprising to see how the Italian forward is having his breakthrough season being 29 years old. For Fuenlabrada, Melo Trimble was the top scorer with 20 points, as usual.
