The FIBA Men’s World Rankings have been updated after the third window of the FIBA Continental Cup Qualifiers.

The U.S.A. continued to maintain the No. 1 spot, while Spain, Australia, Argentina and Serbia rounded out the top five.

The only changes in the top 10 included Greece jumping ahead of France from No. 7 to No. 6 and Italy moving up two spots into the top 10 at No. 10.

Just outside the top 10, Brazil and Czech Republic each fell one spot to No. 11 and No. 12, respectively after Italy leapfrogged them.

Some notable movers (up and down) in each continent:

Africa (Up)

  • Mozambique: +6 spots to No. 90 despite going 1-2 in the February window and coming up short of qualifying for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021
  • Guinea: +5 spots to No. 122 after going 1-2 in the February window
  • Rwanda: +4 spots to No. 91 after going 1-2 in the February window
  • Congo DR: +3 spots to No. 81 after going 1-2 in the February window and qualifying for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021
  • Kenya: +3 spots to No. 112 after going 1-2 in the February window and qualifying for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 for the first time in 28 years

Africa (Down)

  • Madagascar: -4 spots to No. 128 after going 0-3 in the February window
  • Equatorial Guinea: -4 spots to No. 138 after going 0-3 in the February window (one forfeit loss for failure to comply with FIBA COVID-19 protocols)
  • Cote d’Ivoire: -2 spots to No. 50
  • Mali: -2 spots to No. 77 after going 1-2 in the February window

Americas (Up)

  • Colombia: +1 spot to No. 66 after qualifying for FIBA AmeriCup 2022 with a 71-63 upset win over Argentina

Americas (Down)

  • Bahamas: -4 spots to No. 62 after going 0-2 in the February window
  • Uruguay: -2 spots to No. 45 after going 1-1 in the February window
  • U.S. Virgin Islands: -2 spots to No. 53 after going 0-3 in the February window (three losses by a combined 11 points)

Asia (Up)

  • Bahrain: +6 spots to No. 101 after going 1-1 in the February window
  • Kazakhstan: +5 spots to No. 74 after going 3-0 in the February window
  • Palestine: +4 spots to No. 89 after going 1-1 in the February window

Asia (Down)

  • Sri Lanka: -11 spots to No. 134 after going 0-3 in the February window (three losses by a combined 184 points)
  • India: -3 spots to No. 76 after going 1-1 in the February window
  • Iraq: -2 spots to No. 79 after going 0-2 in the February window

Europe (Up)

  • Portugal: +4 spots to No. 58 after going 2-0 in the February window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers and qualifying to the next round
  • Estonia: +3 spots to No. 47 after going 1-2 in the February window and qualifying for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022
  • Slovakia: +3 spots to No. 63 after going 1-1 in the February window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers and qualifying to the next round
  • Luxembourg: +3 spots to No. 71 after going 1-1 in the February window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers
  • Finland: +2 spots to No. 32 after going 2-0 in the February window
  • Hungary: +2 spots to No. 38 after going 2-2 in the February window

Europe (Down)

  • France: -1 spot to No. 7 after going 1-1 in the February window
  • Czech Republic: -1 spot to No. 12 after going 1-1 in the February window
  • Romania: -1 spot to No. 55 after going 0-2 in the February window

“Due to the suspension of FIBA competitions, an adjustment was made to the algorithm for the rankings in December by extending the expiration date of past results by eight months in order to ensure that results from two Olympic Games are at all times included in the calculations which weigh data from the past eight years,” according to FIBA.
