For 51 years, Jerry West has been the NBA’s logo. Designed by Alan Siegel, the logo was introduced to give the NBA a more global outlook, and to set itself apart from the American Basketball Association (ABA).

Since 1969, there have been numerous impactful players that have played in the association, but for Kyrie Irving, the decision to change the logo only comes down to one player… Kobe Bryant.

Changing the logo would not bother Jerry West at all and actually prefers that they change it. As a guest on The Jump, West stated: “I don’t like to do anything to call attention to myself… that’s just not who I am, period. If they would want to change it, I wish they would. In many ways, I wish they would.”

Could we be seeing a logo change in the near future?
