Frank Vogel explained why LeBron James and Anthony Davis had so much playing time against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

Vogel said when a game is on the line, James and Davis will be in the lineup of the defending champions.

“Playing them that much is not what we want to do, but game on the line, those guys will be in there,” Vogel told reporters, via Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen and Roll.

James had 33 points in 46 minutes of action, while Davis remained on the floor for 45 minutes and scored 30 points.

The Lakers survived a late thriller over the Pistons and earned the 129-135 win in double overtime.
