Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant will not play against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight due to injury recovery – right Achilles tendon surgery, the team announced.

This game is not part of a back-to-back set, but head coach Steve Nash recently said that he wanted to reduce the workloads of his star players Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.

“Long term, I don’t like it. I would err on the side of saying it’s not sustainable,” said Nash. “But at the same time, we are where we are right now with a little bit of a depth or a second-unit synchronicity [issue]. We’re kind of caught in between. But that’s a problem that we are trying to solve and thinking of different ways to solve it.”

Harden currently leads the NBA with 38.5 minutes per game, Durant is third with 36.8 and Irving is at 35.7.

Durant has averaged 40.5 minutes per game in his last six games.

The 32-year-old hasn’t looked like a player coming back from a devastating injury, as he is averaging 30.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.
