Joel Embiid is going to be unavailable for the Philadelphia 76ers’ matchup against the Detroit Pistons, per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. He was questionable for tonight’s game, but the Sixers decided to rest their big man.

Embiid was ruled out with back tightness. The All-Star big has started the season strong for the leading team in the Eastern Conference.

Last week, Embiid averaged 37.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 61.1 percent from the field leading the Sixers to a 3-0 record.

As a result, he was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Dwight Howard is expected to start in Embiid’s place, while Tony Bradley will receive extra time as the backup center.

The Sixers are leading the East on a 12-5 record, while the Pistons have been the worst team in the conference with just three wins in the first 16 games of the season.
