After devastating injuries that haunted him for the past couple of years, DeMarcus Cousins appears to be getting back to his usual self. The 30-year-old center had the game of the season so far, as he dropped 28 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in 30 minutes of play during the Rockets’ win over the Mavericks.

After the game, Boogie said this performance was a proof that the work he has put in to recover was worth it. At the same time, he admitted that it wasn’t all that easy for him to get back. There were moments when he thought it was over for him.

“It’s just proof that the work is working … the days I though I was wasting, my time, the dog days I thought it was over for me … I would be lying if I didn’t have those moments, but just continue to believe in myself,” Cousins said, via ESPN.

This season, Cousins is averaging 7.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 19.7 minutes per game for Houston.
