Every year the NBA gets more exciting and even more competitive. We still cannot forget some of the best plays and moments in its history. Here are some of the greatest.

Bill Russell’s 30 Points in 1962

Bill Russell had an epic game that will go down in history when he led Boston to victory with an overtime win of 110-107. Russell finished the game with 30 points with 40 rebounds. Taking literally every opportunity he had to score. They ended up beating the LA Lakers to take the Finals series.

LeBron James Against the Celtics in Game 6, 2012

LeBron James took the driving seat in true King James style when it was absolutely needed. He took on the Boston Celtics in game 6 of the playoffs. The game ended with LeBron making 45 points with 26 shots. He also had 15 rebounds and 5 assists. The Heat eded up taking the series after being down 3-2 to the Celtics. This helped win LeBron his first championship too. As many people had money betted on the Lakers they probably made a lot of money with some last-minute wagers. Magic Johnson’s SkyHook Against the Celtics

Having recovered from a 16-point trail, the LA Lakers needed another shot in the last couple of seconds. Magic Johnson ran to the foul line and launched a hail mary attempt of the skyhook that won them the game. The shot gave them a 3-1 lead in the playoffs. Johnson then called the shot “the junior, junior skyhook.”

Jerry West’s Half-Court Shot

Jerry West, also known as Mr. Clutch in the 70s had one of the best plays in history when he sent the Knicks into overtime in 1970. At the time the NBA had no three-pointer rule. If it did the Lakers would have won the game from that play alone. Unfortunately, they lost in overtime by 111-108.

Greatest Game in the History of the NBA

It was Boston and Phoenix that were part of this Final. It was in 1976 when the series was at 2 for 2. It was a game filled with action and a third overtime. There was an inbound pass that was countered with a buzzer-beating shot. The Celtics finally won with Glenn McDonald scoring six points. The game ended at 128-126.

The Knicks First Title Victory

It was 50 years ago in 1970 when the NBA Finals commenced. The Knicks were playing the Lakers. Led by Willis Reed who had been injured and continued playing in game six. He should not have been on the court and yet went on to lead the Knicks to their first NBA win. He wore his heart on his sleeve and led the team to a win by pure determination.

Magic Johnson on Center Court

It was back in 1980 during game six. One of the greatest performances was when Magic Johnson was still a rookie and was playing center. This act saw Magic score 45 points and grab 15 rebounds. He also assisted other players seven times. Essentially leading the team as a young, unknown player to an NBA title during game six.
