The final day of group play at the FIBA world championships for women with the top-placed teams gaining automatic qualification to the quarter-finals, leaving the teams finishing second or third needing to qualify for the last eight.

Group A

A game-high 27 points from Patricia Teixeira and a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds from Erika Souza earned Brazil a 79-56 win over Japan to qualify in third and eliminate the Asian side.

Spain qualified as group winners as the European champions comfortably beat Czech Republic 67-43 to finish 3-0, and leave the Czechs settling for second spot. Both teams had qualified before the final day of group play.

Group B

Hosts Turkey qualify as group winners following a 64-54 win on the final day over Mozambique who are eliminated with three losses out of three.

Saziye Ivegin led with 13 points in what was a balanced scoring attack for the Turks who were pegged back a little in the final quarter but rarely troubled.

France finished the group in second with a 63-59 win over Canada who ended up in third.

Sandrine Gruda led the French with 13 points in what was a hard-fought contest throughout.

Group C

Australia put Belarus to the sword to finish the group 3-0 following an 87-45 win.

The Opals were never tested in any of the three games as they progress to the quarter-finals and await the winner of the Canada-Czech Republic game. Belarus finish Group C in second spot.

Cuba collected the third and final slot from the group following a convincing 73-57 win over Korea who are eliminated.

An impressive 16 points and 17 rebounds from Marlen Cepeda led the Cubans to victory.

Group D

USA comfortably advanced from Group D as winners after they overpowered Angola 119-44. Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Americans as they ease into the last eight. Angola go home with a 0-3 record.

Serbia finish second in the group after edging China 65-63. The Asian side finish in third. Tamara Radocaj led the Serbians with 19 points.
