After missing the entire 2019-2020 NBA season, Gerald Green is back with the Houston Rockets on a non-guaranteed contract. Last year in October, Green broke a bone in his left foot and had to undergo surgery. During this past season’s trade deadline, he was dealt to Denver and waived shortly after.

As training camp approaches, Green finds himself in his home city that he was drafted out of high school from in 2005. His career has been a long journey, playing everywhere from the NBA, G League, and overseas. On Rockets Media Day, the former slam dunk champ broke down the familiar situation he’s currently going through entering this season.

“I think that’s another situation today. I feel like I play better when I have the opportunity to prove myself that I belong and that I’m worthy of me being here.
