The Houston Rockets seem ready to lose the two most important pieces of their core during this offseason.

With Russell Westbrook wanting out and James Harden entertaining the idea of a trade, the Rockets are in peril to enter a long and painful rebuilding process.

However, that’s not the case, according to Jonathan Feigen of Houston Chronicle:

“The Rockets have no interest in tearing things down to restock shelves with draft picks and prospects and start over, a person with knowledge of the team’s thinking said. They will attempt to be much more Daryl Morey’s “win now” Rockets than Sam Hinkie’s “trust the process” Sixers.”

The Rockets went all-in after trading for Russell Westbrook giving up future assets for a ‘win-now’ move.

It seems pretty reckless to enter a rebuilding state without exploring the possibility of succeeding with a new head coach and a new system around Harden and Westbrook.

After Houston could not get past the Lakers in the second round, Daryl Morey and Mike D’Antoni, who built the small-ball Rockets, decided to step down.

Stephen Silas was hired as the new head coach, while Rafael Stone replaced Daryl Morey as a general manager.

According to both Silas and Stone, the Rockets are still in “win-now’ mode. However, rumors around their two superstars suggest otherwise.
