The Washington Wizards are reportedly among one of the teams exploring the possibility of moving up in the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft.

The Wizards currently have the No. 9 pick.

After the draft lottery back in August, Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard said that trading up would be a possibility for his team.

However, it’s unclear if they are targeting a specific player or draft spot.

In a potential trade with the Atlanta Hawks, the Wizards could deal the No. 9 and No. 37 pick along with Troy Brown Jr. in exchange for the No. 6 pick, according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

“This draft is looked at by several people as being weaker than recent years,” Sheppard told O’Connor back in July. “We see it as a great opportunity. This might give us an opportunity to swing for the fences, take a wild card, buy a lottery ticket, if you will.”

LaMelo Ball is considered one of the biggest wild cards in this year’s draft and could be available at No. 6.

The Wizards could pair Ball with Bradley Beal and John Wall to create a “three-headed monster” in the backcourt, as they are all players who can attack and score from anywhere on the court.

Ball could also be a successor in case either Wall or Beal was eventually dealt somewhere else.
