The Golden State Warriors are expected to return to contender status next season, with Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Draymond Green back in full health.

The Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr talked on The Athletic’s “TK Show” with Tim Kawakami.

When Kerr was asked about Golden State’s offense next season, the three-time champion took a playful dig at the Western Conference rivals, Houston Rockets.

“We’re not reinventing the wheel, but we have very different personnel around those guys. We’re still going to be the Warriors,” Kerr claimed, per USA Today Sports.

“We’re not going to all of a sudden, turn into the Rockets and change our offense and have one guy go high pick-and-roll, 70 times a game.

… But, We got to be ourselves. And what makes Steph and Klay the players they are is the combination of what they can do on and off-ball – that’s what moves defenses. And what makes Draymond special is his ability to distribute from either the four or the five spots – to have playmaking at that level really.”

The 2020/21 season won’t start until 2021, but the Warriors would have a legit chance to get back to the NBA top tier, after last season.

Golden State finished the 2019/2020 season with the worst record in the league, but they will have the chance to add talent through the draft and free agency this season.

However, the core of Curry, Thompson and Green will definitely dictate the Warriors’ chances of getting back to contending status.
