Before the 2020 NBA Finals series, the Miami Heat star forward Andre Iguodala talked about the future duel between the Heat and the Lakers and matching LeBron James. A three-time NBA champion has given his credit to LeBron by naming him as one of the greatest basketball players of all time:
“You just got to have that will, understanding you’re guarding the top talent ever. He’s going to make you pay when you make mistakes,” Iguodala told The Undefeated’s Marc Spears. “You just try to play mistake-free basketball. Put him in vulnerable situations where you feel like you got the advantage, whether it’s a shot or a pass or where he is defensive.”
“Iguodala, who won Finals MVP in 2015 mainly because of his defensive effort on James, has held the Los Angeles Lakers star to 44% shooting when guarding him since that series,” Spears notes.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra could try Iguodala to slow LeBron down due to his experience and defensive skills. The Heat’s veteran forward will be competing in his sixth straight NBA Finals.
