Anthony Davis said Rajon Rondo was the first person he called after being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers last summer.
Davis wanted Rondo to re-sign with the Lakers in order to have the opportunity to play together again.
Davis and Rondo were teammates in the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2017/18 season.
Davis, Rondo and the Lakers lead the Western Conference Finals series against the Denver Nuggets 3-1.
Game 5 is on Saturday.
