Houston Rockets superstar Russell Westbrook has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, as he announced on social media. He expects to rejoin his teammates when he is cleared.

“I tested positive for COVID-19 prior to my teams departure to Orlando. I’m currently feeling well, quarantined, and looking forward to rejoining my teammates when I am cleared. Thank you for the well wishes and continued support. Please take this seriously. Be safe. Mask up! #whynot,” Westbrook tweeted.

Russ is averaging 27.5 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists per game for the Rockets this season. Houston is currently sixth in the Western Conference with 40 wins and 24 losses and has already qualified for the playoffs.

The Rockets will resume the season with a game against the Dallas Mavericks on August 1. Prior to that, they will play three scrimmage games against the Raptors (July 24), Grizzlies (July 26) and Celtics (July 28).
