Lance Thomas could end up starting with the Brooklyn Nets, even though he has spent the season as an unsigned free agent.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Nets were close to reaching a deal with Thomas.

Kevin Durant is out for the season while recovering from a torn achilles. Wilson Chandler, who opted against returning, and Taurean Prince won’t return this season (Prince was diagnosed with coronavirus.)

The Nets recently signed Michael Beasley, but he will have to serve a five-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy.

The Nets have no depth in small forward and power forward. Thomas is a veteran known for his his impressive defense and leadership. Those qualities should make Thomas’ transition to the Nets a smooth one.

Thomas is 32 years old and this will serve as opportunity for him to show he is still an effective NBA player.
