While dominating college basketball at UCLA, during his freshman season, Kareem went to see one of the two Samurai movies which peaked his interest in martial arts. Coming from New York City, Kareem thought learning martial arts would be necessary to deal with the violence surrounding him. 2 years later, Kareem got the privilege to meet the legend, Bruce Lee, and began training with him! Kareem became an eight-year martial arts student.
Kareem later appeared on the 1978 film, “The Game of Death” and had a fight scene with Bruce Lee himself!
