The New York Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 113-99 in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

Willis Reed shocked how crowd when he took the court despite a torn thigh muscle, which kept him out of Game 6. He made New York’s first two field goals. They were the only shots he would make all game but he inspired his teammates.

Walt Frazier dominated the Lakers, and finished with 36 points, 19 assists and seven rebounds. He was also efficient, going 12-17 on field goals and 12-12 on free throws. He helped the Knicks to a 69-42 lead at halftime and they never looked back.

Dave DeBusschere finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Dick Barnett posted 21 points and Bill Bradley added 17 points.

For the Lakers, Jerry West had 28 points and Elgin Baylor scored 19 points. Wilt Chamberlain finished with 21 points and 24 rebounds but went 1-11 on free throws.

The Knicks had planned a reunion for the anniversary of their victory but it was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
