Dennis Scott was ahead of his time when he made 267 3-point field goals in the 1995-96 season, which was then an NBA record. He beat out George McCloud, who made 257 that season and Mookie Blaylock, who made 231 that season.
Scott’s record did not last, as his 1995-96 mark is no longer in the top-ten for 3-pointers made in a season.
The record is currently held by Steph Curry, who made 402 during the 2015-16 season. There has been a huge increase in 3-pointers attempted and made throughout the NBA in recent seasons.
Still, before “3 and D” players became common in the NBA, there was Dennis Scott, who was actually nicknamed “3-D.”
