Damian Lillard has established himself as one of the best guards in the league leading the Portland Trail Blazers to consecutive playoff appearances.
Despite that, New Orleans Pelicans rookie Nickeil Alexander-Walker said the Blazers’ superstar is still underrated.
“It’s going to sound weird to say, but Damian Lillard in my opinion is underrated,” Alexander-Walker said in a recent interview with Pelicans writer Jim Eichenhofer.
“Countless years he proves himself to be one of the top point guards in the league. Oftentimes he’s left out (of the conversation) for the top 10 or top 15 players in the league, because there are a lot of household names, but I feel like he really deserves to be in that talk.”
The Trail Blazers’ five-time All-Star has become more of “a household name” recently. But, with Lillard putting career-best numbers in points (28.9) and assists (7.8) this season, Alexander-Walker thinks more people need to take notice.
