His three-year contract with the Russian team is drawing to a close and, according to his agent Obrad Fimic, many teams from the Euroleague and the NBA have shown interest for the 31-year old guard.

Shved’s agent talked to Izvestia about his client’s basketball future and a potential NBA return:

“Shved is the best player in Europe, and it was the best season of his career,” Fimic said. “We conducted preliminary negotiations with Khimki on the extension of the contract and will continue the dialogue after the final decision of the Euroleague on the fate of the season.”

According to Fimic, many other Euroleague teams have approached Alexey Shved. According to his agent, Shved is feeling comfortable in Khimki and they will first negotiate with the Russian club.

Before his return to Russia, Shved spent three seasons playing at the NBA. Minnesota, Philadelphia, Houston and the New York Knicks were those teams in which Shved has played. His agent shares his thoughts about his client’s potential return to the NBA:

“Every year there is interest in League clubs. I do not exclude the possibility that in the event of the early completion of the Euroleague and the extension of this season in the NBA, Shved might be in one of the teams competing for the Larry O’Brien Cup.”
