After a successful first term which lasted two seasons, Sofocles Schortsianitis has officially returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Big Sofo took a one year break to takes his chances with Panathinaikos, but the the cooperation ended after just one (of the three that the contract stipulated) with the player averaging 8.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in Euroleague, so the Greek international returned to Israel.

Schortsianitis was part of the Maccabi team that made it to the Euroleague final in 2011, that was during his first season there, while averaging 11.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in just 19 minutes on court.

Although he drew interest from Russia, Schortsianitis chose to return to Tel Aviv, where he is one of the fans’ most favourite players.
