Kobe Bryant just doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase “can not play due to injury”.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard was originally out for an undetermined amount of time with a heavily sprained ankle, which he sustained in Wednesday’s 96-92 loss to the Atlanta Hawks as he went up for a jumper with 3.2 seconds left and landed awkwardly on the foot of Dahntay Jones.

Within hours, Jones was heavily criticised by fans who suggested that he tried to injure Bryant. The NBA front office chimed in with a statement saying that after careful review, they believe that Bryant did indeed get fouled.

Jones however defended himself on Thursday, stating that he did not intentionally try to injure the Lakers’ star.

Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni stated at Friday morning shootaround though that Bryant has, against all odds been taking part in light training and will be a game time decision tonight when the Lakers face the Indiana Pacers.

“He’s getting treatment,” D’Antoni said to ESPNLA.com. “Obviously he’ll get better every day and we’ll see. When he can go, he’ll go.”

D’Antoni said that if Bryant can’t play, that Jodie Meeks would cover in his absence.
