Nikola Mirotic was outstanding as he led Real Madrid to a 105-104 overtime win against Zalgiris in Kaunas.

The win put the Whites at 9-1 and it means that the Liga Endesa side are mathematically through to the last eight if Panathinaikos defeat Unicaja Malaga on Friday night. Zalgiris still have work to do, as they fall to 4-6 in Group F.

This win was all about Mirotic though, as he grabbed an offensive rebound and hit two free throws with 3.4 seconds left in regulation to ties the game at 84-84 and send it to overtime – then in a high scoring extra period – Mirotic drained a dagger three to push Madrid’s lead to 101-94 and end Zalgiris’ hopes of victory despite a last gasp attempt.

Mirotic ended with 31 points, 11 rebounds and he set a Euroleague record by going 18/18 from the foul line.

Tremell Darden led Zalgiris with 20 points and five rebounds.

Barcelona became the first team through to the last eight as they were finally able to pull away from Olympiacos to record a 90-77 road win over the Greek side.

The Catalan side looked good at half-time, leading 46-36, but the hosts came back and only trailed 63-62 after three quarters. But Barca came good when it mattered and thanks to 21 points from Erazem Lorbek, they got the win.

Olympiacos are now at 6-4 in Group F. They were led by 23 points from Vassilis Spanoulis.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv hit 15 pointers and had five players in double figures as they breezed past Fenerbahce 94-85 in Istanbul.

The Israeli champions are now 5-5 in Group E while Fenerbahce drop to 2-8 and are all but out in their hunt for a last eight birth.

Ricky Hickman led the way for the winners with 18 points and six assists.
