Zalgiris have decided to release rookie forward Reeves Nelson, the club has announced.

Nelson was signed-up to a one-month contract with the option for the Kaunas club to extend the deal until the end of the season. But they have declined the extension.

“He is a good player, but he needs time to get used to European basketball and Zalgiris,” the club’s owner, Vladimir Romanov said on the team’s website.

“But we don’t have the time. We needed Nelson to play at a top level already now.”

Nelson played in one Euroleague game, against Maccabi Electra, where he grabbed two rebounds in five minutes. He also averaged two points and two rebounds in three Lithuanian league games.
