Panathinaikos BC have landed their first summer signing by agreeing with Pat Calathes.

The American born Greek international was targeted by both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos (and even some abroad Euroleague clubs like ASVEL), but the top Greek scorer of last edition of A1 gave priority to Panathinaikos.

Calathes comes off his best career season averaging 14.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in Greek A1 with Kolossos.

Playing with his brother played an important role in his decision to join The Greens. According to sources the two years (1+1 with team option) deal, which will be announced by Panathinaikos in the upcoming days, will cost Panathinaikos 200K euros per season.

This comes as great relief to Panathinaikos fans who have seen two starting five players, such as Nicholas and Fotsis, departing earlier in the summer. Panathinaikos has also renewed the contracts of Kostas Tsartsaris and Stratos Perperoglou until the next summer while is trying to sign Vangelis Mantzaris.
