The Detroit Pistons assistant general manager Pat Garrity shared his thoughts on a Guinean-born French forward Sekou Doumbouya, selected No. 15 overall in the 2019 NBA draft:

“He plays a position that is extremely valuable in the NBA today as a combo forward that can play both forward positions. The second thing with him is his youth and what he has accomplished so far playing in the professional league since he was 15-years-old and the rate of improvement and his physical attributes and where that can take him.

We just look at it as he’s a guy that it’s going to take a little bit of time but he has a huge ceiling and has the potential to be a really good player at a position in the NBA that is probably the most valuable,” Garrity said, per USA Today.

Doumbouya, 18, is the youngest player in the 2019 NBA draft class. This past season, he played for Limoges CSP in France.
