Two of the Greek National Team's prime guards will not be participating at the Eurobasket 2009 in Poland. After Papaloukas declared he will not be there in order to rest and recover, it was Dimitris Diamantidis' turn to do so.
Diamantidis was recently operated in the abs and as he said he needs time to rest and recover from surgery. The greek guard has never missed a major competition.
Antonis Fotsis will be the new captain of the team that now remains only with Nikos Zisis and Vassilis Spanoulis from the old guard in the perimeter.
