U20 Women European Championship 2009The French National Team managed to win the U20 Women European Championship beating Spain in the final. Latvia won the bronze medal over Russia.

The final score was 74-52, to France obviously, but the win didn't come that easy and things looked difficult for the French ladies in the first quarter when they were behind 23-10.

Led by their center Arielle Amant France came back in the game slowly but steadily and with a 22-5 run in the second quarter, playing amazing defense, finished half time in the lead 32-28.

In the second half France lept their lead finishing the 3rd quarter leading 48-45 to finish off the Spaniards in the last quarter with a similar run as in the 2nd quarter, 26-7.

In other news from the U20 Women European Championship, Alba Torrens of Spain was voted as the MVP of the tournament while in the bronze medal game Latvia overcame Russia winning by 78-75. Poland came 5th, beating Turkey and Serbia won the 7th spot over Germany.
