Crvena Zvezda will have a new old face on the sidelines next season, as current coach Aleksandar Trifunović will not continue with the team. The chosen for the head coaching post is Mihailo Uvalin, who last served in the club during the 2002-2003 season as an assistant, developing a work among juniors for many years. Despite being only 38, the Serbian started coaching 20 years ago and takes now the helm of one of Serbia’s greatest clubs, after working in some second tier leagues.
Uvalin’s previous club was Politekhnika Halychyna Lviv from Ukraine, before being dismissed. He also worked in Belgium (Oostende), Poland (Polpak Świecie), Austria (Innsbrück), FYR of Macedonia (Vardar) and his home country (Mega Aqua, now Mega Vizura).
Crvena Zvezda will look to bounce back from last season’s playoff semi-finals loss to rivals Partizan amidst a financial crisis.
