The hopes of getting a job at a club which plays in Euroleague faded away for Rimas Kurtinaitis. Lithuanian coach led Lietuvos Rytas to LKL title last season but the club decided to look for a new coach instead. After not getting any big offers Kurtinaitis decided to accept the offer of his old friend Valdis Valters who runs Latvian club VEF Riga.
Kurtinaitis made a name for himself as a head coach in Europe in 2009 when he managed to win Eurocup title with Lietuvos Rytas against all odds. He was strongly wanted by Benetton Treviso before last season but decided to remain in Vilnius instead.
