ImageThe Greek Union of Professional Basketball Players (PSAK) decided that no game is to take place during the fourth gameday of the Greek League as their demands of a long time were not met.

The Union's demands are relevant to the insurance and security of players in the Greek professional leagues. It has been decided that the fifth gameday of the A2 league is also not to take place. Another reason the players will go on strike is the increase of the number of non-European players eligible for each team from two to three.

Here is the announcement:

"The assembly of the Greek Union of Professional Basketball Players took place today (9/11/2009) at noon in the presence of players of both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. The final details (mostly on the organisational level) of the strike to take place during the fourth gameday were discussed. We announced our way of reaction since three months now, yet nothing has changed so we are forced to go on a strike."
