ImageThe NAPSL ( National Association of Professional Sports Leagues ),one of which members is the French Basketball League LNB, has issued a release shoeing their astonishment for the decission of the French parliament to abolish the Rights to Collective Image ( RCI ) by next December 31.

The RCI procedure was adopted in 2004 in order to reduce the disparity in terms of fiscal and social policies in the European scenario. The French Professional Leagues can´t understand the proposal made by Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin. This season, 144 basketball players are amoing those 1444 in the RCI mechanisms. The others are football, rugby and handball players.

The economical capacity of French football, basketball, rugby and handball clubs to retain their talents and sign outstanding international players, shows the utility of the RCI. This decission to abolish the RCI will take financial disaster consequences for the professional clubs.
