After the departure of Schortsianitis and Vujcic Olympiacos had a gap to fill in the paint and did it in the best possible way by agreeing with Rasho Nesterovic who will be returning to Europe after spending the last 12 seasons in NBA.
Nesterovic was the personal choice of Dusan Ivkovic and one of the reasons was that he will be playing as a local player, being a Greek passport holder from his days at PAOK at the age of 17, under the surname “Makris”.
In his best NBA season in 2002/03 he averaged 11,1 point and 6,5 rebounds while he has also won a ring with the San Antonio Spurs.
The move is considered as counter-measure regarding the signing of a dominating type of player like Maric who Panathinaikos signed yesterday.
