Former Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv player Sonny Weems had been banned from competing in FIBA-sanctioned competition until 2021.
Back in January Weems was called to give a sample for the anti-doping control in Israel. It was reported that he refused and now he faces the charges.
As a result, NADO (national anti-doping organization) officially announced, the player is banned from every FIBA related tournament until 2021.
It remains to be seen if Weems will be able to join Zhejiang Chouzhou, with which he penned a one-year deal for the upcoming campaign.
