ImagePanathinaikos has agreed terms with American power-forward Marcus Haislip and everything is set for the final signatures in a matter of days. The Greens were after a big deal after the injury of Kostas Tsartsaris and the tough schedule they will have to deal with in February.

Panathinaikos was looking into a number of candidates to sign including names such as Andre Hutson, Maciej Lampe and Tadija Dragicevic but  coach Obradovic decided that Marcus Haislip was the best one of all available players at this stage of the season.

Haislip was waived by the San Antonio Spurs and will now be placed on the waiver list for 48 hours before being eligible to sign another professional contract. As soon as the 48 hours pass by, on Sunday evening, he is expected in Athens to sign his contract with the European champions. The deal went through due to the excellent relationship between the two clubs and the personal friendship of Zeljko Obradovic and Gregg Popovich.

Haislip will sign a contract until the end of the current season which will make him richer by $1 million. Panathinaikos outbid both Khimki and Efes Pilsen who also wanted to sign the player.
